Simulator Background Properties: To open the simulator background Properties Box, depress Select. Then double-click or control-click in a clear area of the simulation window.

In the Properties Box, you can set these properties:

  • Burnout current for tall bulb. The current required to permanently burn out a tall bulb (see figure to right). Burned-out bulbs must be discarded (deleted). They cannot be reused. Default burn-out current is 0.160 amps (160 mA).

  • Burnout current for round bulb. Same as above for round bulbs. Default burn-out current for round bulbs is 0.625 amps (625 mA).
  • Standard arrow length. Current arrows with a standard arrow length indicate a current number of 1.0, i.e., a standard current. Default length is 60 pixels.
  • Current arrow color. The color of current arrows. Choices are black (default), blue, and red.
  • Standard current. The current corresponding to a current number of 1.0 and a standard current arrow length. Default is 37.5 mA, which is the current running through a 40 ohm light bulb connected to a 1.5 volt battery.
  • Standard compass deflection. The deflection of a compass needle by the magnetic field of a wire carrying a standard current (with a current number of 1.0).
  • Show clock. Show or hide the clock. Default is to hide.
