Substance Balance. This element measures the mass of lumps of substances. To use the scale, you must first scoop a pile of a substance using the mass scooper, substance (molar) scooper, or volume scooper. You cannot place a pile on the balance because it is an infinite source of a substance. You can either place the scoop directly on the balance with the scoop tool, or use the Select tool (see Figures 1 and 2). The mass is measured in grams. You can use the Select tool to removed the substance from the balance. If you delete the balance, you will delete whatever substance is on the balance.
