Microscopic View Tool: After you depress this button, a magnifying glass tracks the cursor as you move it across the simulation window. If you click on charged objects with the magnifying glass, you can obtain microscopic views of their electric or magnetic structures. The microscopic view tool only works in Run mode.

To obtain a microscopic view of an object, the Microscopic View option must be checked in the object's Properties Box. You can also hide or show the microscopic view of all objects in the simulator's background properties.

When you click on an object, a small window labeled Ultrascope View opens. It displays the microscopic model view within a thick black circle, as if you were looking at the object through a microscope (see examples below). Clicking on an object with no Microscopic View option (such as a pendulum ball) results in an empty view field. To close the window, click on the Close button.

The view obtained using this tool depends on the type of object and where you click on the object. Figure 1 displays the electric view obtained after clicking on the edge of a conductor (a temporary electric dipole). The view shows negative charge collected at the surface. Figure 2 displays the magnetic view obtained after clicking on a temporary magnetic dipole. The view shows miniature dipoles.
