This button activates the Save HTML Applet, which saves both the current simulator setup and an HTML page that will automatically load it. Thus, it allows you to save preconfigured setups for students that appear immediately when they start the simulator.

If you click on the Save HTML button, a Save As window will open up. You can give the new HTML file any name you wish. However, you MUST make sure that:

  1. You must include the suffix .htm in the file name! If you have a PC, under Save as Type choose HTML files. On a Macintosh, type in .htm as the last characters in the file's name.
  2. You SHOULD save the file in the same folder as the original HTML document calling the simulator. That folder is the one containing the name of the current tutorial or simulator. You must save in the same location relative to ripplelab.jar (Ripple Lab) or sound.jar (Sound Lab) and the folder temp (which contains all the sound files) as the original document.

Save HTML puts simulator setups in files with names drawn from the HTML file name. A setup file is called filename.htm.setupn, where filename is the HTML document you named and n indicates the simulator rank. If you have two simulators in one document, Save HTML creates two setup files with names ending in 0 and 1 for the first and second simulators respectively.

  • The setups load automatically when you open the associated HTML document. However, you can also load these setup files independently by using the Load function on the Standard Menu.
