Sound Sources: Sound sources provide input for wave measurement tools and the tape recorder, devices to which sound sources can be wired either directly or through branch tools and Fourier combiners. Measurement tools display the characteristics of the waves produced by sound sources, while the tape recorder plays the sound made by the waves (but only during Run mode). Sound sources also provide output for speakers and point sources located in media rooms. During simulations, Sound Lab renders either animated or non-animated wave patterns in media rooms. All sound sources can contribute waves for animated patterns, but only continuous sources (signal generator and sustained phone buttons) can provide waves for non-animated patterns. The non-continuous sound sources are the piano, flute, violin, drum, guitar, trumpet, and tuning fork. Except for the signal generator, all sound sources make sound when struck by the Hammer Tool. |
