Maryland and the DC area are usually quite humid in the summer months. Please expect to drink extra water during the workshop than you might expect. Further, if you intend to spend time outside on the physics ellipse, be prepared to ward off mosquitoes and gnats and check for ticks. Deer ticks are more common in Maryland than some parts of the country, smaller than other species of tick, and carry risk for disease.
Please come prepared with a device that you can easily type on (e.g., laptop or tablet with keyboard). There will also be a binder and other materials provided to you that you may want to account for when determining the size of your luggage. Finally, casual dress will be appropriate for the FTI. Meeting rooms may be a bit cool, so you may wish to bring a light sweater or equivalent.
Casual dress will be appropriate for the Faculty Teaching Institute.
